This was the first group project of the 2nd semester. We were tasked to create either a piece of wearable tech, or a smart home device. Are team decided to go with the latter, and we came up with a smart gardening system that would ultimately save the homeowner time and provide them with important data for their plants. We named this device 'Nutrivolve'. As a designer, I was tasked with helping to create the branding for the project. The other designer in my group decided to design the app, whereas I created the logo. I started by creating a moodboard for the project which contained all essential information about our idea, and the goals we needed to complete. I then sought inspiration for my logo design, and began to create rough sketches. 3 Stood out to me, as featured below.
Having come up with 3 ideas I liked for the logo, I decided to create them digitally, and update my group with the progress as it went along. Ultimately, my group decided on the logo they liked most, and so I began solely working on that logo to ensure it was the best it could be. This involved with conducting peer feedback, and also receiving feedback from my lecturers on what they thought should change about the logo. The main points for change were to make the subtle 'n' and 'v' in the logo more prominent, and to change the colours to be more in line with the app design to add synergy to the project.
After I was satisfied with the final design of the logo, I began to design the presentation and ensure it had a theme to make it more coherent. I used the colour scheme of the logo and the app, and implemented the leaf element from the logo onto each slide. I also quickly created an on-board screen for the device, and created a mockup using Kanchan's model. I believe that this project was successful as I was able to improve my teamwork skills, and hone in on an optimal workflow that is most effective for creating work in an efficient manner. I conducted extensive research, and went through several stages of development before settling on a final design, which provided me with a lot of flexibility.
